Chandigarh/Ambala, 04 February (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): During the raid conducted by Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Mr. Anil Vij against over-loaded vehicles on Ambala-Narayangarh Highway on Monday evening, a total of 18 drivers were taken action against and a fine of Rs 2.54 lakh was imposed on them.
Two drivers paid the challan on the spot while the remaining vehicles were seized. These vehicles will be released only after paying the fine amount. Today, Cabinet Minister Anil Vij said that action was taken against 18 drivers on whom a fine of Rs 2.54 lakh has been imposed and this amount will be recovered from the drivers.
It is worth noting that Transport Minister Anil Vij suddenly raided the Ambala-Narayangarh highway on Monday evening and himself got down on the highway and started checking the overloaded vehicles. During the investigation, irregularities were found in many vehicles and these vehicles were seized. As soon as the information about the raid was received, RTA Ambala and police teams reached the spot. During the raid, Minister Anil Vij himself checked the documents of many drivers while he also checked the weight and size of the goods loaded in the trucks. This action of Minister Vij created panic among the drivers.
Mr Vij had said on the spot that he was trying to ensure that no overloaded vehicles ply in the state and that drivers carry complete documents. He had also instructed departmental officers to check these and had also said that he can recheck vehicles anytime, anywhere.
