Fazilka, January 27 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Under the guidance of the Punjab Government and Civil Surgeon Dr. Lahimbar Ram, the Mass Media Wing of the Health Department, Fazilka, with the support of other staff, organized a tableau to spread awareness about non-communicable diseases, the Farishtey Scheme, TB-Free India, and ABHA. Participants from the Mass Media Wing included Vinod Khurana, Divesh Kumar, Harmeet Singh, Vicky, female multipurpose health workers, Ramesh Kumar, and Sunil.

During the event, Dr. Lahimbar Ram highlighted that the Punjab Government is making various efforts to provide quality healthcare services closer to people’s homes.

The Punjab Government offers free screenings for individuals over 30 years of age at Ayushman Arogya Kendras to ensure the early detection and treatment of diseases such as cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, heart diseases, and other non-communicable ailments.

Through the Chief Minister’s Punjab Cancer Relief Fund, cancer patients are provided cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh. Additionally, the government has launched the “Jan Jan Ka Rakhe Dhyan, TB-Free India Campaign”, including a 100-day TB-Free Mission. Anyone experiencing a cough lasting over two weeks, evening fevers, weight loss, or fatigue should get their sputum tested for free at government hospitals.

Under the Farishtey Scheme, if someone assists an accident victim in reaching a hospital, they are honored with the title of “Farishtey” (Angel) and awarded ₹2,000.

The Civil Surgeon, Fazilka, appeals to all district residents above the age of 30 to undergo routine health tests at least once a year. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle to prevent non-communicable diseases. Reducing the consumption of ghee, oil, refined flour, sugar, tobacco, and alcohol while incorporating balanced home-cooked meals, fruits, and vegetables can significantly improve health. Daily yoga, walking, and meditation are also encouraged.
