Pollution has reached dangerous levels in Punjab due to stubble burning and other reasons. People are facing breathing problems as well as irritation in their eyes. Air quality remained poor in many parts of Punjab-Haryana on Sunday. According to the ‘Sameer’ app of the Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 342 at 10 am in Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana.
On the other hand, the Air Quality Index was recorded at 268 in Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab, 246 in Amritsar, 220 in Ludhiana, 206 in Patiala, 202 in Rupnagar, 196 in Jalandhar, 175 in Bathinda and 163 in Khanna. Let us tell you that the air quality in the national capital remained in the ‘very poor’ category even on Sunday evening. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) till 4 pm was 335 (very poor).
The AQI in Delhi was recorded at 334 at 9 am. At least eight weather stations, including Anand Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Alipur, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Wazirpur, Rohini and RK Puram, recorded air quality in the ‘very poor’ category in the evening.
