Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal hoisted the national flag at the district level function organized at the local police line ground Hoshiarpur on the occasion of 75th Republic Day. The Deputy Commissioner along with SSP Surendra Lamba, Additional Deputy Commissioner (J) Rahul Chaba and Parade Commander Inspector Jasveer Kaur took salute from the grand march past after inspecting the parade. On this occasion, the school children presented an excellent mass PT show, cultural program and there was a dance of Gidhe and Bhangra. The Deputy Commissioner also honored the families of freedom fighters and martyred soldiers who came specially in the function. Similarly, they also handed over sewing machines, motor tricycles and tricycles to the needy. Apart from this, distinguished personalities in various fields and officers and employees who showed good performance were also honored. Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal congratulated the people of the district on Republic Day and paid his heartfelt respect to the thousands of patriotic heroes who laid down their lives in the long struggle for the freedom of the country. Bhimrao Ambedkar ji has wrapped the country with different religions, castes and cultures in one garland, as a result of which today our country is known as a beautiful example of unity in diversity. He said that Punjabis contributed the most during the freedom struggle. He specially remembered Hoshiarpur freedom fighter Pandit Kishori Lal who was a companion of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and Babu Mangu Ram Mugowalia of Gadar movement.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that today under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab is creating its own distinct identity in each region. He said that Aam Aadmi Clinic, School of Eminence, 300 units of free electricity, anti-corruption action line, door step services, Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage and many other people-friendly initiatives have brought great relief to the people of the state. He said that more than 5000 pending deaths have been settled in district Hoshiarpur under the special camps organized across the state in the past to settle the pending deaths.
Mentioning the proud achievements of Hoshiarpur district, he said that 46 Aam Aadmi clinics are running successfully in the district and 28 more will be opened soon this year. Similarly, 30 more beds have been added at the cost of 5 crore 75 lakhs at Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur and 6 crore 77 lakh rupees have been spent on the renovation of the civil hospital. Similarly, Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Science is being established in the district at a cost of Rs 550 crore and Sardar Bahadur Amin Chand Soni Armed Forces Preparatory Institute is being established at a cost of Rs 27 crore in village Bajwara. He said that Sri Guru Ravidas Memorial is being constructed at the historical village of Hoshiarpur at the cost of Rs 148 crore at Shree Khuralgarh Sahib. Apart from this, new S. at Hoshiarpur at a cost of 5 crore 29 lakh rupees. D. M Office, Tehsil Office and Fard Center are being constructed. To inculcate the spirit of patriotism among the youth, 101 feet high tricolor flags have been installed at Prabhat Chowk and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, two main points of Hoshiarpur city. Sewerage project is being started at village Bajwara and Fort Brun with a cost of around 30 crores. A very good food street has been constructed at Hoshiarpur after removing the dump, where the city dwellers are now enjoying Lazy’s cuisine. Punjab’s first digital library at Civil Lines, Hoshiarpur has been dedicated to the people of Punjab at a cost of around Rs 3 crore. The Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur-Chintpurni road, which has been running in a dilapidated condition for a long time, has been constructed by the Punjab government at a cost of Rs 13 crore 74 lakhs, which has greatly benefited the pilgrims going to Mata Chintapurni ji.
He said that the first biofertilizer laboratory of the state has been established at Bagbani Estate, Cantonment Kalan, Hoshiarpur, in a major milestone in the field of horticulture. To provide water to the villages of the Kandhi region in a smooth manner, work is underway on the Talwara water supply project based on canal water at a cost of Rs 258 crore 73 lakh. Due to the efficient management of stubble and crop residues, incidents of stubble burning in the district have been reduced by about 54 percent compared to last year and a target of zero incidents has been set this year.
To promote eco-tourism in the district, Hoshiarpur Forest Division has prepared nature camps at Thana Dam and Chauhal Dam, where tourists can stay at A. Sea Huts, Attached Bathrooms, Boating, Jungle Safari, Jungle Trekking and Food & Beverage are fully arranged. As an exclusive initiative, District Employment Bureau has also developed Punjab’s first employment mobile app ‘DBEE Online’. Under the unique initiative launched by the Punjab government to provide government services to the people at their door step, Hoshiarpur district has taken the highest leap in the state with the highest 96 percent door step services delivery rate within a month. .
Telling about the various unique projects being run by the District Red Cross Society Hoshiarpur, he said that under the ‘Wings’ project, the society provided employment to special and intellectually challenged children after 3 months of special training and sent them to government colleges, I. T. Tuck shops have been opened at I, Regional Center Punjab University and Red Cross Office. Similarly, he mentioned the common kitchen run by the society, Jan Aushdhi generic drug store, new skill programs for the people admitted at the District De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center, and the assistance given to the people during the floods. He also praised the district police for maintaining law and order in the district and the achievements made against drugs.
