He said that after the damage to the paddy crop due to floods last year, the affected farmers planted PR 126 variety and it gave a good yield despite being late, due to which the loss to the farmers was reduced. He said that this variety was released by the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana in the year 2017 after long experience and it is being cultivated by farmers in a large area in Punjab. He said that the fodder of PR 126 will be bought by the fodder procurement agencies and farmers need not be in a dilemma. He said that sowing of this type of paneer can be done from May 25 to June 20 as recommended by Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. He appealed to the farmers not to rely on any kind of propaganda against this pro-farmer type of paddy and to sow maximum area under this type. Aarti leader and sheller owner Barjinder Garg appealed to the farmers that in the interest of the sheller industry, the farmers should not delay in planting the PR 126 variety, but the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department has recommended sowing of paneeri from May 25 to June 20 and sowing of paneeri.
