Sri Fatehgarh Sahib/8 April (Punjab khabarnama): Desh Bhagat University’s Faculty of Nursing and Dental College & Hospital joined hands in observing World Health Day with a series of engaging activities and awareness campaigns. World Health Day, marked annually on 7 April under the auspices of the World Health Organization, underscores the global imperative of ensuring access to quality healthcare, education, and information, encapsulated in this year’s theme, “My Health, My Right.”The Faculty of Nursing orchestrated an array of educational and creative activities to educate and inspire its students. These included a quiz competition, Rangoli and poster making, and a speech competition, all centered around the theme of World Health Day. Participants from various nursing programs showcased their talents and knowledge, enhancing their understanding of health-related rights and responsibilities. Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of DBU, and Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, graced the event as chief guests. Prof. Ravideep Kaur and Gurwinder Kaur were the event coordinators. The presence of Prof. Victor Devasirvadam S., Director of the Faculty of Nursing, along with Prof. Lovesampuranjot Kaur and Prof. Prabhjot Singh, added scholarly insights and encouragement to the proceedings. Prizes were awarded to the winners, recognizing their exemplary contributions and understanding of health advocacy.Simultaneously, Desh Bhagat Dental College and Hospital’s Public Health Dentistry department orchestrated a range of initiatives to commemorate World Health Day. Dr. Unnati Pitale, Guest Principal, lent her expertise and support to the event, emphasizing the critical role of dental health in overall well-being. Dr. Ravneet Kaur coordinated the activities, which included the Reels Making Competition, Awareness Advertisement Acts, Photography Competition, and Sketching, all revolving around the theme. Through these activities, students and faculty members engaged in meaningful discussions and creative expressions, promoting a deeper understanding of health rights and responsibilities. Both events exemplified Desh Bhagat University’s dedication to fostering a culture of health consciousness and advocacy among its academic community and beyond.
