Chandigarh March 6 (Punjab khabarnama) : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state on Wednesday nabbed Constable Jagjit Singh, posted at police station Mulepur, district Sri Fatehgarh Sahib red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 10000.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the state VB said the said police personnel has been arrested on complaint lodged by Khushpal Singh, a resident of village Naulakha, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib district.
He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that he had sold a buffalo to one Jasvir Singh for Rs. 84000 but as the buyer was dilly-dallying in paying the money. After this the complaint filed a complainant with SSP, Fatehgarh Sahib, which was being verified by Constable Jagjit Singh. The complainant further alleged that while effecting a compromise between both parties, he has demanded Rs. 10000 for the same.
He informed after preliminary verification of the complaint, a team of VB Unit Fatehgarh Sahib laid a trap and arrested the accused Constable red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered at police station VB Patiala range and further investigation into the case was under progress, he added.
