25 september 2024 : Actor Karthi apologized to Pawan Kalyan, the actor and Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on Tuesday for his recent remarks regarding the Tirupati laddu controversy. In response, Pawan expressed his appreciation for Karthi’s swift apology and emphasized the importance of handling such topics with care in a lengthy note on X (formerly Twitter).
Pawan began by acknowledging Karthi’s respectful gesture towards shared traditions and stated, “Matters concerning our sacred institutions, like Tirupati and its revered laddus, carry deep emotional weight for millions of devotees. It’s essential for all of us to approach such topics with sensitivity.”
He recognized that Karthi’s comment was likely unintentional but reminded public figures to be cautious with their words. “While I understand the comment was made without malice, we must remember our responsibility as public figures is to promote unity and respect, particularly regarding our cherished culture and spiritual values. Let’s always strive to uplift these values while inspiring others through cinema.”
Pawan concluded his note by expressing admiration for Karthi as a “remarkable actor” whose dedication and talent have enriched the film industry. He also wished good luck to Suriya, Jyotika, and the entire team of Meiyazhagan, which will be released in Telugu as Sathyam Sundaram.
Suriya responded to Pawan’s post with gratitude, saying, “Thank you for your heartfelt wishes, sir!” while Karthi replied, “Thank you for your hearty wishes, dear sir!”
Background of the Incident
During a promotional event for Meiyazhagan in Hyderabad, Karthi had commented, “Let’s not talk about laddus now. It’s a sensitive topic. We don’t need it.” This remark did not sit well with Pawan, who warned the film industry against making light of the issue. He said, “You’re joking about laddu… I noticed how it was discussed at a movie event yesterday. It’s a sensitive matter. Please think carefully before you say anything when it comes to Sanatana Dharma.”

Karthi will soon appear in Meiyazhagan and Sardar 2, while Pawan has resumed shooting for Hari Hara Veera Mallu and will also feature in They Call Him OG and Ustaad Bhagat Singh.
