September 4, 2024: Indian para shooter Avani Lekhara finished in fifth place in the Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions SH1 event at the Paris Paralympics today. She completed her campaign with a score of 420.6 points. Previously, she qualified for the finals by securing the seventh position in the qualifying round. Avani had already won a gold medal in the 10m Rifle event. Meanwhile, India’s Mona Agarwal missed out on the finals by finishing in 13th place. Avani scored a total of 1159 points, while Mona scored 1147 points. Avani had won the gold medal in the Women’s 10m Rifle SH1 event, and Mona had won a bronze medal. Avani also secured a gold medal in this event at the Tokyo Paralympics, becoming the first Indian female shooter to retain a Paralympic title.
