60 students and staff of the college registered for stem cell donation
Hoshiarpur, 09 February (Punjab khabarnama) : In Sanatan Dharma College Hoshiarpur under the chairmanship of the management committee Hema Sharma, under the supervision of Rama Yudh Memorial Health Clinic, Red Ribbon Club and Department of Biotechnology, a stem cell awareness and registration camp was organized with the support of Arjun Veer Foundation and district administration Hoshiarpur. Assistant Commissioner (Complaints) Divya P, Convener Stem Cell Depository Hoshiarpur Naresh Gupta and Jasleen Garcha from Arjun Veer Foundation participated as chief guests in the camp.
On this occasion, the camp was started under the guidance of Vice President of the Management Committee Chaturbhushan Joshi, Secretary Gopal Sharma, Joint Secretary Tilak Raj Sharma, Cashier Pramod Sharma and Executive Principal Prashant. The camp started with the lighting of the lamp and Executive Principal Prashant Sethi welcomed the Chief Guest. After this, he inspired the staff and students to actively participate in the noble work of registering for stem cell donation. Project Convenor Naresh Gupta while giving information about this program said that the stem cell scheme is being worked on in the district in collaboration with Arjun Veer Foundation to save people from fatal diseases. He said that stem cell therapy is very effective for many life-threatening diseases like blood cancer, genetic disorders and these life-threatening diseases can be cured by using this therapy. Apart from this, he said that the survival rate of blood cancer patients in the United Kingdom is about 70 percent and in India it is less than 1 percent. Jasleen Garcha from Arjun Veer Foundation gave detailed information to the students about the stem cell registration project and explained how through registration we can contribute to the recovery of any needy sick person.
After this, Assistant Commissioner Divya P expressed his gratitude to the college and Arjunveer Foundation and appreciated this program and also appreciated the involvement of the students in this kind of activity. He also congratulated the college management committee and the institution for their dedication and unwavering cooperation of the students. During this, he also inspected the exhibition of bakery and art and craft items put up by the Earn While You Learn group of the college and praised the skills of the students. Simmi Singh, the founder and convener of Arjunveer Foundation, died of blood cancer. Gave information about the initiative to establish an organization like stem cell registration in India in memory of son Arjun Veer. During this time, the students and staff of the college enthusiastically participated in registration for stem cell donation and collected around 160 oral swab samples. The role of Prof. Megha Dua performed well. At the end of the program Prof. Vipan Kumar thanked all the attendees and students for their cooperation and enthusiasm towards this event.
