10 June 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau  : The conflict between Iran and the United States escalated sharply after Iran launched missile and drone attacks on American military installations in Jordan and several Gulf countries, following U.S. strikes on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz ordered by President Donald Trump.

According to reports, the U.S. carried out attacks on Iranian radar systems, air-defense sites, and military infrastructure after an American Apache helicopter was reportedly downed near the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Washington described the operation as a limited and proportional response aimed at protecting U.S. forces and interests in the region.

Iran Launches Retaliatory Strikes

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they responded by targeting U.S. military facilities in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, and other Gulf locations using missiles and drones. One of the reported targets was the al-Azraq air base in Jordan, which hosts U.S. military personnel.

U.S. and allied air-defense systems reportedly intercepted most of the incoming projectiles, and initial reports indicated no major casualties among American personnel.

Strait Of Hormuz At The Center

The latest confrontation revolves around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes. Any disruption in the waterway could have significant consequences for global oil supplies and international trade.

Regional Tensions Intensify

The exchange has raised fears of a broader regional conflict involving multiple countries and Iran-backed groups operating across the Middle East. Security alerts were issued in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan as authorities activated air-defense systems in response to the attacks.

International Calls For Restraint

Several countries, including China and Russia, have urged all sides to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could trigger a wider war. Diplomatic efforts to revive negotiations and prevent further escalation are continuing amid growing concerns over regional stability.

Impact On Global Markets

The renewed military confrontation has increased uncertainty in global energy markets, with investors closely monitoring developments around the Strait of Hormuz and the possibility of disruptions to oil exports from the Gulf region.
