26 May 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau : Amrinder Singh Raja Warring has dismissed a viral video linked to a notice issued by the Scheduled Castes Commission, claiming the clip being circulated on social media is “fake” and politically motivated.
The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief reacted strongly after the controversy gained traction online and across political circles. Warring said the video being shared allegedly misrepresents facts and has been deliberately edited or circulated with misleading intent to damage his public image.
The controversy emerged after reports surfaced regarding a notice connected to the Scheduled Castes Commission over remarks or content allegedly associated with the Congress leader. Soon after, a video clip began circulating widely across social media platforms, triggering political reactions and online debate.
Responding to the matter, Raja Warring said the viral material does not reflect the complete truth and accused political opponents of spreading misinformation ahead of crucial political developments in Punjab.
The Congress leader maintained that he has always respected all communities and constitutional institutions. He also claimed that attempts were being made to create unnecessary controversy by spreading manipulated digital content.
Political tensions intensified as rival parties demanded clarification over the issue, while Congress supporters defended Warring and questioned the authenticity of the circulated clip.
Leaders from opposition parties argued that the matter should be investigated thoroughly if the Commission has formally taken cognisance. Some political voices also demanded accountability if misleading or objectionable content had indeed been circulated publicly.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders accused opponents of using selective editing and social media propaganda to target senior opposition figures in Punjab politics.
The controversy once again highlighted the growing role of viral videos and digital misinformation in modern political battles, especially during periods of heightened political activity.
Experts say manipulated clips, edited statements, and out-of-context videos increasingly influence political narratives and public perception across social media platforms.
Legal experts noted that if a video is found to be doctored or misleading, authorities may examine whether laws related to misinformation, defamation, or digital manipulation apply.
At the same time, they added that official commissions and investigative agencies generally rely on complete evidence and verified submissions before reaching conclusions.
The Scheduled Castes Commission has not yet publicly disclosed detailed findings regarding the matter, and further developments are expected after procedural review and responses from concerned parties.
Political observers believe the controversy could continue generating debate in Punjab’s political environment as parties intensify attacks and counterattacks ahead of future electoral battles.
Raja Warring reiterated that he would cooperate with any lawful inquiry while continuing to challenge what he described as a false and misleading campaign against him.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the increasing influence of social media-driven political controversies and the challenge of verifying digital content in India’s rapidly evolving political landscape.
