Sri Muktsar Sahib, 4th February (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): The District Social Security and Women & Child Welfare Department organized an International Disability and Sign Language Day at the district level for children with special needs today. The event was held at the Special Resource Center, Government Primary School, Sri Muktsar Sahib. The program was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Sri Muktsar Sahib, Shri Rajesh Tripathi.
While sharing his thoughts, the Deputy Commissioner said that citizens are very fortunate to have the opportunity to serve children with disabilities. He further emphasized that children with disabilities are no less than any other children and are, in fact, the embodiment of God. He mentioned that if these children are given full support and encouragement, they have the potential to achieve any milestone.
During the event, District Social Security Officer, Naveen Gadwal, shared that the department is actively working for the welfare of children with special needs, and efforts are being made regularly. He mentioned that the department is running schemes to ensure the safety of disabled children, and at present, 8,481 disabled individuals in the district are receiving financial assistance.
At the request of the center’s staff, the District Social Security Officer provided an inverter set for the children and also distributed refreshments, notebooks, pencils, etc., to the children.
The event was attended by Shri Jaspal Monga, District Education Officer (SES), Deputy District Education Officer, Block Primary Education Officer, and the staff from the Special Resource Center and District Social Security Officer’s office.
On this occasion, disabled children also presented performances according to their abilities.
