Rupnagar, March 18 (Punjab khabarnama) : Senior Superintendent of Police, Rupnagar Mr. Gulneet Singh Khurana, while giving information during the press conference, said that Rupnagar police have arrested a person who demanded ransom of Rs 2 crore from the former Chief Minister, Punjab through a mobile call.
Mr. Gulneet Singh Khurana said that a video had gone viral on social media in which the former Chief Minister, Punjab Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi had said that a person called him and demanded the ransom of Rs. 2 crore and then also sent a message in which he threatened to kill him if he could not pay the money.
Senior Superintendent of Police disclosed that on the basis of the video, a case No. 22 wide dated 02.03.2024 U/S 387 and 506 was registered at Police Station City Morinda.
He said that SP (Investigation) Ms. Rupinder Kaur Saran and DSP, Sub-Division Morinda Mr. Gurdeep Singh have done the technical and scientific investigation of this case. After that involvement of the Deepak Shrimant Kabale who is resident of Sambhav Apartments, Shivaji Nagar, Vakola Mumbai (Maharashtra) was found and he was named in the case. A team of SHO city Morinda and CIA in charge had arrested a person from Maharashtra on 15th March 2024.
Mr. Gulneet Singh Khurana said that a laptop and two mobile phones were seized from the arrested person. After presenting this person before the court and police remand of three days has been taken. Investigation of the case is going on as to which other persons he has made threatening calls and demanded ransom.
