Chandigarh, March 12 (Punjab Khabarnama): In a recent session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed strong discontent towards the Union Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for neglecting the elected government of Punjab in events concerning the state’s development projects.

Mann highlighted the absence of invitations extended to Punjab’s government and its people in ceremonies related to developmental initiatives, including the recent inauguration of upgrades to seven railway stations in the state by the Prime Minister. He criticized this omission as a deliberate move aimed at gaining political mileage in the media.

Accusing the Union Government of engaging in a ‘credit war,’ Mann emphasized the need to refrain from politicizing events meant to mark Punjab’s development. He labeled such actions as a disrespect to the mandate of the three crore people who elected their government.

The Chief Minister pointed out that despite forthcoming elections, where various incentives are being offered to mislead voters, the Modi government’s neglect of Punjab indicates an ‘anti-Punjab syndrome’ and a determination to undermine the state’s progress. Mann condemned the withholding of funds amounting to over Rs 8000 crore under the Rural Development Fund (RDF) and National Health Mission (NHM), labeling it as unjust treatment towards Punjab.

In contrast, Mann highlighted his government’s efforts towards inclusive governance, citing the formulation and execution of policies after extensive consultations with stakeholders. He emphasized the organization of ‘Sarkar Kisan Milnis’ and ‘Sarkar Vyapaar Milnis’ to address concerns of farmers and traders, respectively, and the extension of health insurance benefits to traders with a turnover of up to Rs 2 crore.

Mann outlined initiatives like the ‘Sarkar Tuhade Dwaar’ scheme, aiming to decentralize governance and bring it closer to the people. He assured all political parties of adequate security during the upcoming elections and urged them to refrain from divisive politics, emphasizing the democratic significance of the electoral process.

Expressing optimism for the upcoming elections, Mann advocated for a politics of morality, urging parties to compete without resorting to personal attacks. He concluded by extending wishes for a successful and democratic electoral process, aligning with the principles cherished by the nation’s freedom fighters.
