Says, Bhagwant Mann’s government is striving to create a friendly environment for businessmen and industrialists

Urges traders to take maximum advantage of the ‘one-time settlement’ scheme for tax dues relief

Instructs to State GST Officers present on the spot for proper resolution of VAT and GST problems faced by traders

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, March 9 (Punjab khabarnama) : Punjab Traders Commission, Chairman, Anil Thakur, held a meeting with the traders and industrialists of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district under the ‘Aap Di Sarkar Aap De Dwar’ initiative taken by Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab government and lent an ear to their problems. On this occasion, Punjab Medium Industry Board Chairman Neil Garg, and members of Punjab Traders Commission Vineet Verma and Anil Bhardwaj were also present.

Addressing the traders and industrialists, Chairman Anil Thakur said that under the One Time Settlement Scheme, old tax dues of less than 01 lakh have been completely waived off by the Punjab Government, while rebates are being given at various slabs for tax dues above Rs.1 lakh and up to Rs. 01 crore. He said that the defaulter traders can contact the department to avail the benefit of this scheme. He said that he has been visiting each district and listening to the problems of traders and entrepreneurs so that they can be resolved at the government level.

He said that if a trader receives a notice from the state GST department, it does not mean that the said trader or shopkeeper is guilty, but he will be given a full opportunity to present his side and if the trader’s case is correct, such notices will be taken back. He said that the departments have been instructed not to harass traders and industries without any reason. He also appealed that a regular bill must be given at the time of the sale of goods. He said that the trend of issuing bills in the state has increased after the introduction of the Mera Bill app that provides lucrative prizes during luck draw. 

Chairman Thakur further said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the commission and the department are committed to providing a positive and friendly environment to the traders and industrialists in the state. He asked the officials present on the occasion of State GST to immediately resolve the concerns raised by the traders and to hear them. He said that as per the promises made by the Chief Minister, meetings with the industrialists in the state have already been done while the traders are going on. He said that the Chief Minister himself gave them a comfortable environment in the state to resolve their problems.

 Punjab Medium Industry Board Chairman Neil Garg said that the intention and policy of the government is honest and clear. For the promotion of industry and trade in Punjab, first-time policies have been made for them by receiving their problems on WhatsApp helpline. He said that the government is committed to providing every facility to the traders and industrialists. He said that the government and all its wings are making sincere efforts to solve all the problems of traders and if any trader faces any problem, they can contact them.

Member Vineet Verma expressed his gratitude and said that for the first time in Punjab, the government is visiting the doorsteps of the people and asking for suggestions from the concerned parties to address them. He assured that the government, the commission and the board will take each of their suggestions seriously so that their problems can be resolved.

District Planning Committee Chairperson Prabhjot Kaur, Assistant Commissioner State Tax Munish Nair, Ramandeep Kaur ETO, Neetu Bawa ETO, and Dipinder Kaur ETO were present on this occasion. Office bearers of various trader and industrial associations including Mohali Industry Association, Industry Association-82, Jewelers Association, Mohali Traders Association, Chanalon Industry Association and Mohali Kariana Association were also present and raised various suggestions and problems.
