Farmers share their experience of sowing wheat with surface seeder

Fatehgarh Sahib, 08 February (Punjab khabarnama): Agriculture Department Secretary Mr. Ajit Bala Joshi today interacted with the farmers who are sowing surface seeder wheat in the district and visited their fields. He also held a detailed meeting with the officials of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department regarding crop diversity, drone assessment and stubble management.

Have visited the farm of Progressive farmer Sukhwinder Singh has sown wheat by renting a surface seeder machine from Cooperative Society Hawara at the rate of Rs 100 per acre. He said that they have not burnt the stubble for a long time and by sowing wheat with surface seeder, the weeds have grown less and the cost of sowing has also come down.

On this occasion, Secretary Mr. Ajitbala Joshi said that the department is giving subsidized surface machines and other agricultural machines to farmers at low rent to cultivate stubble without setting fire. He appreciated the efforts being made by the department to curb the pollution and said that in this way, while the environmental pollution can be curbed, the agricultural expenses of the farmers can also be reduced and the fertility of the land is also increased. is

On this occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer Mr. Sandeep Kumar said that during the year 2023-24, 14 surface seeder machines have been given to cooperative societies and gram panchayats at 80 percent subsidy. He said that a big tractor is not required with the surface seeder machine, this machine can be operated with a small tractor. Farmers can do wheat sowing and pollution free farming by taking surface seeder machine at low rent.
