Arora, a former Punjab Cabinet minister and Ludhiana West MLA, had earlier been a prominent face across the city, with his name and image appearing on public-facing material linked to political and development activities. His political career has come under intense scrutiny following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money-laundering case.
Arora’s Political Rise in Ludhiana
Arora, an industrialist-turned-politician, entered the Rajya Sabha in 2022 before contesting the Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll in 2025.
He won the election and was subsequently inducted into the Punjab Cabinet, taking charge of important portfolios. His political visibility in Ludhiana increased significantly during this period.

Following Arora’s arrest, the Punjab government reassigned his ministerial responsibilities to other members of the Cabinet.

In July, the Punjab and Haryana High Court sought a response from the ED on his bail plea, keeping the legal proceedings in focus.
