13 july 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau  :  Alexander Zverev believes adopting a more aggressive style of play could help him narrow the gap with the world’s leading players, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Speaking after a recent tournament, the German star acknowledged that Sinner and Alcaraz have set a high benchmark in men’s tennis with their attacking mindset, consistency, and ability to dictate points from the baseline.

Need to Be More Aggressive

Zverev said modern tennis increasingly rewards players who take control of rallies early and play with intent. He believes adding greater aggression to his game—particularly on return games and shorter points—could improve his chances against the sport’s top-ranked players.

The former ATP Finals champion noted that while his defensive skills remain a strength, he must be willing to take more risks to consistently compete for Grand Slam titles.

Sinner and Alcaraz Setting the Standard

Sinner and Alcaraz have dominated the men’s circuit in recent seasons with their explosive shot-making, athleticism, and mental resilience. Their ability to maintain high intensity throughout matches has made them the players to beat on both hard and clay courts.

Zverev praised both rivals, saying they have raised the overall level of competition on the ATP Tour.

Focus on Grand Slam Success

Despite consistently ranking among the world’s top players, Zverev is still chasing his first Grand Slam singles title. He said refining his attacking game and improving execution in key moments will be essential if he wants to challenge for major championships.

The 29-year-old remains confident that he has the experience and physical ability to compete with the sport’s best.

Looking Ahead

As the ATP season continues, Zverev aims to build momentum and adapt his game to meet the demands of modern tennis. Fans will be watching to see whether his tactical adjustments help him close the gap on Sinner and Alcaraz in the race for the biggest titles.
