Sri Muktsar Sahib, 25 Aug 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): The Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will not allow the Bharatiya Janata Party’s conspiracies to succeed in any way, because its central government has decided to stop the ration of 55 lakh poor people of Punjab. This is not just a decision but a direct attack on Punjab. These words were expressed by Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur during a press conference held at the residence of Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar, MLA from Sri Muktsar Sahib.
Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that a total of 1.53 crore people in Punjab receive free ration through ration cards, and with this arbitrary order of the Centre, more than 8 lakh cards will be canceled, resulting in ration being stopped for 32 lakh needy Punjabis from the month of September. She added that even in July, ration for 23 lakh people was stopped in the name of e-KYC.
The Cabinet Minister clearly stated that the state government led by the Aam Aadmi Party will not allow the card of any eligible beneficiary to be canceled, and to counter this move of the Centre, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has also requested six months’ time from the Centre to complete the e-KYC process of beneficiaries.
Dr. Baljit Kaur further said that this is not only a fight for ration but also for the respect and rights of the people of Punjab. She said that the BJP has been troubling Punjabis not only in the matter of ration for the poor, but also in providing nutritional ration to small children in Anganwadi centers, to pregnant mothers, and even in the case of the Rs. 150 share of old age pensions. She affirmed that during the tenure of the Aam Aadmi Party government, Punjabis will not face any injustice, and the government will strongly safeguard every right of the people of Punjab.
On this occasion, apart from others, local MLA Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar, Cooperative Society Chairman Jagdev Singh Bam, District Planning Committee Chairman Sukhjinder Singh Kauni, Cabinet Minister’s Personal Assistants Arshdeep Singh Sidhu and Shinderpal Singh, Youth Leader Sarbjit Singh Happy Bhullar, along with a large number of party workers, were present.
