It originates only from bats and spreads to humans through contact with their blood, urine, or saliva. This virus is very dangerous, and many people lose their lives after getting infected.
Symptoms of Marburg Virus:
According to WHO, the symptoms of the Marburg virus are similar to those of the Ebola virus. When infected with this virus, people may experience high fever, severe headaches, muscle pain, vomiting, sore throat, fatigue, and diarrhea. In severe cases, the virus can cause internal bleeding and organ failure, leading to death. If the virus spreads further, it can cause sudden weight loss, bleeding from the nose, eyes, mouth, or genitals, and mental confusion. This virus was first discovered in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1961.
Treatment for Marburg Virus:
According to experts, there is no specific treatment for the Marburg virus. The death rate from this virus can range from 24% to 88%. When people get infected with this virus, treatment is given based on the symptoms. Currently, treatment for Marburg virus includes blood products, immune therapy, and some medications. There is no vaccine available for this virus yet, but the process of developing one is in its early stages. If people get infected, their condition can become serious. The Marburg virus spreads through contact with infected individuals. It can spread through body fluids to other people. To protect yourself from this virus, avoid going to areas affected by the Marburg virus. Social distancing, wearing masks, and washing hands frequently can help prevent this virus.
