10 october 2024 : Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, has once again claimed the top spot on Forbes India’s 2024 list of the richest Indian tycoons. This year, for the first time, the collective net worth of India’s top 100 wealthiest individuals surpassed a trillion dollars, according to Forbes.
Ambani’s wealth surged by $27.5 billion in the past year, bringing his net worth to $108.3 billion, making him the 13th richest person globally. His wealth rise was one of the largest in dollar terms, following his announcement of bonus shares as a Diwali gift for Reliance investors.
Forbes also highlighted that the combined wealth of the top 100 reached $1.1 trillion in 2024, up 40% from $799 billion in 2023. This growth has been driven by a booming stock market, successful IPOs, and mutual funds, with the BSE Sensex gaining 30% over the past year. As a result, over 80% of the list’s members saw their wealth increase, with 58 individuals adding $1 billion or more to their fortunes.
