10 october 2024 : Days after announcing that there would be no media preview screenings for Jigra, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions hosted a special screening for the cast and film industry insiders. Attendees included Alia Bhatt, her sister Shaheen Bhatt, mother-in-law Neetu Kapoor, Karan Johar, Rashmika Mandanna, Vedang Raina, and Khushi Kapoor.
At the Jigra special screening, Alia and Shaheen posed together, both excited about their second production under Eternal Sunshine Productions, following their 2022 Netflix film Darlings. Co-produced with Dharma Productions, Jigra marks Alia’s collaboration with Karan once again, after her debut in Student of the Year in 2012.
Karan Johar arrived with his childhood friend, the CEO of Dharma Productions. Vedang Raina, who plays Alia’s younger brother in the film, attended wearing a sweatshirt with the text “The 4th film by Vasan Bala. Jigra.” Neetu Kapoor also showed her support for Alia, while Rashmika Mandanna, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal co-star, joined the event.
Jigra, an emotional escape thriller, follows Satya’s mission to save her younger brother from wrongful imprisonment in a drug case. The film, co-written by Vasan Bala and Debashish Irengbam, features Akanksha Ranjan Kapoor and Manoj Pahwa. The soundtrack, composed by Achint Thakkar with lyrics by Varun Grover, will release in cinemas on October 11.
