17 september 2024 : The two suspects arrested by Punjab Police in connection with the Chandigarh blast, Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih, come from financially struggling families and worked as carpenters.

Vishal’s family resides in a rundown house in Raimal village, Dera Baba Nanak. His father, Sarabjit Singh, is disabled and works as a laborer, while his mother is employed as a maid. His younger brother also works to support the family. Neighbors noted that Vishal had not been seen in the village for months, except for a brief visit last week. Villagers mentioned that Vishal grew close to Rohan about a year ago, and they often worked together. Rohan stayed at Vishal’s home on September 10. It is unclear how Vishal became involved in criminal activities, but locals suspect financial struggles may have played a role, as he often spoke of improving his home.

Similarly, Rohan’s family from Pashia village had moved away about a year ago. His father, Bira Masih, works in marriage halls, and his brother Joban previously worked as a carpenter in Jammu and Kashmir, though his current location is unknown. Rohan’s family was not well-known in the village, and the news of his involvement in the blast shocked the community. A relative mentioned that Rohan’s mother left the family years ago, adding to the uncertainty surrounding his criminal ties. The investigation is expected to reveal more about the suspects’ recent activities and potential connections to larger networks.
