Fazilka 12 February (Punjab khabarnama) : In view of the instructions of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Maan to give seasonal fruit in the mid-day meal in schools, students were given Kinnu fruit in the mid-day meal in schools across the district today. It was started by Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal from Govt Girls Senior Secondary School, Fazilka. On this occasion, the students eagerly ate the fruit of Kinnu, which is very good for the health of the students due to its medicinal properties.

Giving information on this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal said that Fazilka district produces the most kinnu in Punjab and the introduction of kinnu in mid-day meal will increase the consumption of kinnu, which will directly benefit the farmers of the district. He said that every week students will be given kinnu fruit in the mid-day meal.

It is worth mentioning that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann had issued instructions last week as per the demand of the farmers that the students should be given locally grown fruits such as kinnu instead of bananas in the mid-day meal. In view of which, the education department had already issued necessary instructions to all the schools.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that kinnu is very suitable for the health of students due to its medicinal properties because the vitamin C found in it increases the body’s ability to fight diseases and by eating it, a person becomes less sick. They said that it contains many other useful elements that are beneficial for human health. He also appealed to other people to consume more Kinnu. On this occasion Deputy District Education Officer Anju Bala and Head of School Swatantra Bala were also present. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also ate the mid-day meal prepared in the school with the students and got information from the students about the quality of the mid-day meal and also encouraged them to move forward in life.
