9 september 2024 : Jannik Sinner won the US Open 2024 title by defeating Taylor Fritz with scores of 6-4, 6-4, 7-5. After clinching the victory, the Italian celebrated with the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd, raising his arms in triumph.

Sinner had faced a doping controversy before the tournament, having tested positive twice for an anabolic agent in March. However, he avoided a ban after an independent tribunal accepted his explanation of unintentional contamination.

Despite the controversy, Sinner focused on his game and became the first Italian man to win the US Open. In his post-match remarks, he addressed the doping issue and dedicated his victory to his ailing aunt.

“This title means so much to me; the recent period of my career has been challenging. I have a supportive team and loved ones by my side,” he said. “I love tennis and practice hard for moments like this, but life off the court matters too. I dedicate this win to my aunt, who is not well. It’s wonderful to share this positive moment with her.”

Sinner, the current world No. 1, has now won 16 ATP singles titles, including two Grand Slam trophies in 2024 (Australian Open and US Open). He also finished as a runner-up at the ATP Finals and led Italy to the 2023 Davis Cup title. At the 2024 Australian Open, he defeated Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals and Daniil Medvedev in a five-set final to claim his first Grand Slam title.
