19 august 2024 : The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended an alleged smuggler during an ambush operation in Fazilka district on Saturday night, as reported in a press release by the BSF.

    In a statement shared on X, the BSF Punjab Frontier detailed, “On the night of August 17, 2024, following intelligence from the BSF’s intelligence division, our troops executed an ambush near Dona Nanak village in Fazilka district. During this operation, they detected suspicious activity and successfully detained an individual.”

    The BSF identified the suspect as Jaj Singh, who was already listed among suspected smugglers due to information obtained during the interrogation of previously arrested narcotics traffickers.

    “He had been evading capture due to his involvement in multiple narcotics smuggling incidents. A mobile phone containing various suspicious contacts was seized from him. The suspect is a resident of Sona Nanak village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station in Fazilka. Following initial questioning, he was transferred to the local police for further action,” the BSF stated.
