08 august 2024 : There was a period when Chandigarh, often referred to as ‘The City Beautiful’, featured well-maintained roads, and residents were inclined to purchase pre-owned vehicles due to the reliable road conditions that minimized the likelihood of breakdowns. However, the current state of the roads in this ‘smart city’ is characterized by numerous potholes.
Certain areas have been excavated and left unattended, creating significant challenges for drivers. The thoroughfare between Sector 44 and 45 is particularly deteriorated, posing risks for two-wheeler riders who may experience skidding. Additionally, the sections near the roundabout between Sector 33 and 34, as well as the vicinity of Sector 27, are also in poor condition.
Despite the allocation of hundreds of crores for road resurfacing, the roads remain in a deplorable state, subjecting commuters, especially those with spinal issues, to considerable discomfort.
