17 September 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau : India have announced their squads for the upcoming three-match ODI and five-match T20I series against the West Indies, with Shubman Gill set to lead the ODI side and Shreyas Iyer named captain for the T20I series.
The selections bring Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back into the ODI setup, while young talents Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Naman Dhir and Auqib Nabi are among the notable names included. The series begins on September 27.
Gill to Lead ODI Side
Shubman Gill will captain the 15-member ODI squad, with KL Rahul serving as vice-captain.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have both retained their places, while Ravindra Jadeja returns to the ODI setup. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel also feature in the squad.
Two Players Receive Maiden ODI Call-Ups
Naman Dhir and Auqib Nabi have received their first call-ups to India’s senior ODI squad.
Naman Dhir has impressed with his domestic performances and IPL appearances, while Jammu and Kashmir seamer Auqib Nabi has been rewarded for his performances, including his stint in English county cricket.

Iyer to Captain T20I Team
Shreyas Iyer will captain India’s T20I side, with Tilak Varma as vice-captain.
The squad includes young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, along with Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube.
Mayank Yadav also returns to the T20I setup, while Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi are among the spin options.

Pant and Hardik Miss Out
Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya are notable absentees from both West Indies white-ball squads.
Pant has instead been named captain of the Rest of India side for the upcoming Irani Cup, while Hardik does not feature in the announced squads.
West Indies Tour Schedule
The ODI series will begin in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, followed by matches in Guwahati and New Chandigarh.
The five-match T20I series will then be played across Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
