9 September 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau  :  Hanuman Ansh, the devotional biographical drama based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba, has continued its extraordinary box-office run, reaching another major milestone on its 33rd day in theatres.

According to the latest tracking figures, the film collected around ₹11 crore net in India on Day 33, taking its India net total to approximately ₹143.13 crore and its India gross collection to about ₹169.20 crore.

84 Times Its Production Budget

The film’s achievement becomes even more remarkable when its reported production budget is considered.

Made on a budget of around ₹2 crore, Hanuman Ansh has generated an India gross of roughly ₹169.2 crore, translating to around 84 times its reported production cost.

This extraordinary budget-to-gross ratio makes the film one of the most financially successful low-budget Hindi releases of 2026.

Day 33 Sees Another Strong Jump

The film’s fifth Tuesday brought another notable rise in collections.

Hanuman Ansh earned an estimated ₹11 crore on Day 33, compared with ₹10 crore on the previous day, representing a 10% increase. The collection came from 7,778 shows, according to the latest Sacnilk figures cited by the Times of India.

The sustained performance is particularly notable because the film had a very modest beginning.

From ₹10 Lakh Opening to ₹143 Crore Net

Hanuman Ansh reportedly opened with just ₹10 lakh on its first day.

Despite the slow start, audience word-of-mouth helped the film gain momentum over subsequent weeks. Its eventual performance has turned it into a major sleeper hit, demonstrating how a film with limited initial visibility can grow through sustained audience interest.

Low Budget, Massive Returns

The film’s reported ₹2-crore budget makes its box-office journey particularly striking.

With India gross collections around ₹169.2 crore, the film has generated revenue equivalent to approximately 84 times its production budget. This does not mean the producers’ profit equals 84 times the budget, because theatrical revenue is divided among exhibitors, distributors and other stakeholders.

Nevertheless, the ratio illustrates the exceptional scale of the film’s commercial success.

Beats Big-Budget Films on ROI

The film has also attracted attention for its return on investment (ROI) rather than simply its absolute box-office total.

Reports have previously noted that Hanuman Ansh had already surpassed larger releases such as Dhurandhar 2 when profitability was measured against production cost. The comparison highlights how dramatically the small-budget devotional film has outperformed expectations.

In absolute collections, however, the two films operate on very different scales, so ROI is the more meaningful comparison.

Neem Karoli Baba’s Story Connects With Audiences

Directed by Dr Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh chronicles the life and spiritual journey of Neem Karoli Baba, also known as Maharaj-ji.

The film’s devotional subject and spiritual themes appear to have helped it build a dedicated audience beyond the initial theatrical response. Reports have also noted growing interest in Neem Karoli Baba’s life and associated places following the film’s success.

No Conventional Star-Driven Opening

Another factor behind the film’s unusual box-office story is its cast.

The movie does not feature the kind of major Bollywood stars normally associated with ₹100-crore-plus theatrical successes. Shobhinaw Satyaa plays Neem Karoli Baba, with Chandan Anand and other relatively lesser-known actors in prominent roles.

A Sleeper Hit Turns Into a Blockbuster

The film’s trajectory has been almost the opposite of a conventional blockbuster.

Instead of opening strongly and gradually declining, Hanuman Ansh built momentum after a muted start. Its growing collections over the extended theatrical run have transformed it into one of the year’s biggest surprise successes.

Why the ROI Story Matters

Box-office headlines often focus on films crossing ₹100 crore, ₹200 crore or ₹500 crore. But Hanuman Ansh demonstrates another way to measure success.

A ₹2-crore production generating more than ₹169 crore in India gross represents an exceptional commercial outcome, even though gross collections cannot be equated directly with producer profit.
