20 Aug 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau : Veteran Telugu comedian Brahmanandam’s elder brother, Sri Vadan, has spoken publicly about their strained communication, making an emotional appeal for his younger brother to get in touch with him.
Sri Vadan said that four of their siblings have passed away and that he is now the only one living in their hometown. He described feeling lonely and said he hopes Brahmanandam will call him and ask how he is.
‘He Never Calls Me’
Speaking to AVM, Sri Vadan said the two brothers are among the last surviving members of their immediate family.
He recalled that Brahmanandam had recently visited their hometown but left without exchanging even a greeting with him. Sri Vadan said he continues to hope that his younger brother will call him someday.
Elder Brother Does Not Blame Brahmanandam
Despite expressing his hurt, Sri Vadan did not accuse Brahmanandam of being a bad person.
He acknowledged that the actor has a demanding career and may be occupied with film shoots and travel. However, he said he believes Brahmanandam could still find a minute or two to check on his brother.
A Simple Request for a Phone Call
Sri Vadan’s appeal was centred on a small gesture rather than material support. He said he would be happy if his younger brother simply called and asked, “Annayya, how are you?”
He also spoke about the emotional importance of successful people maintaining contact with those close to them.
Family History Comes Into Focus
Sri Vadan revealed that their family originally had six children, but four siblings have died. He said he is now living alone in their hometown, which has made the lack of communication with Brahmanandam particularly painful.
Brahmanandam Has Not Responded Publicly
The comments have attracted significant attention on social media, with many people expressing sympathy for Sri Vadan.
At the same time, some observers have noted that the public does not know the complete history between the brothers and that there could be personal reasons for their distance that have not been made public. Brahmanandam has not publicly responded to the remarks.
Brahmanandam’s Remarkable Film Career
Brahmanandam is one of the most recognised comedians in Telugu cinema. His career spans more than four decades, and he has appeared in over 1,000 films.
He holds a Guinness World Record for the most screen credits by a living actor and received the Padma Shri in 2009 for his contribution to Indian cinema.
Why the Comments Have Gone Viral
The emotional nature of Sri Vadan’s comments has resonated with audiences because they focus on family, loneliness and the value of maintaining relationships despite professional success.
His request for a simple phone call has prompted fans to discuss the importance of staying connected with elderly family members.
A Personal Family Matter
While Sri Vadan has publicly described his feelings, the reasons behind the brothers’ limited communication remain unclear.
The comments should therefore be understood as one side of a personal family relationship, rather than evidence of a specific dispute or wrongdoing.
