17 Aug 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau  : Manchester Super Giants clinched their first-ever Men’s Hundred title, defeating Trent Rockets by five wickets in the final at Lord’s. The victory marked a breakthrough for the franchise after previous final defeats.

Tim Seifert Leads the Charge

New Zealand batter Tim Seifert produced the decisive performance, smashing 72 off just 38 balls. His explosive innings included seven sixes and a 23-ball half-century as Manchester chased down 159.

Seifert was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament, finishing the competition with 394 runs in 10 innings at an average of 49.25 and a strike rate of 168.37.

Noor Ahmad Restricts Trent Rockets

Trent Rockets posted 158/8, with Aneurin Donald making 38 off 19 balls and Lewis Gregory scoring 32 off 16.

Manchester’s Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad played a key role with 3/33, preventing the Rockets from setting a bigger target.

Liam Dawson Seals Dramatic Win

Manchester Super Giants reached 162/5 in 98 balls, but the chase became tense after late wickets gave Trent Rockets hope.

With three runs needed from the final five balls, Liam Dawson smashed a six to seal the championship with two balls remaining.

A Breakthrough After Two Final Defeats

The triumph was especially significant because Manchester had previously lost the 2022 final to Trent Rockets and the 2023 final to Oval Invincibles.

After those setbacks, the rebranded Manchester Super Giants finally lifted the trophy at Lord’s.
