5 Aug 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau  : The Food Safety Department seized 3,000 litres of desi cow ghee sourced from Gujarat during a raid in Ludhiana, as part of an ongoing drive against suspected food adulteration and violations of food safety standards.

Officials collected samples for laboratory testing to determine whether the product complies with prescribed quality norms.

Raid Conducted in Ludhiana

The operation was carried out by food safety officials following inputs regarding the storage and distribution of the ghee.

Authorities inspected the premises and took possession of the stock pending further investigation.

Samples Sent for Testing

Officials said samples of the seized ghee have been sent to an authorised laboratory for analysis.

Further action will depend on the test results and whether the product meets the standards laid down under food safety regulations.

Crackdown on Food Adulteration

The department said it is continuing regular inspections to prevent the sale of substandard or adulterated food products and ensure consumer safety.

Food business operators have been urged to comply with all licensing and quality requirements.

Investigation Continues

Authorities are examining the supply chain and documentation related to the seized consignment to verify its source and regulatory compliance.

If violations are confirmed, legal action will be initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
