27 july 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau  : The Indian rupee strengthened 28 paise to 96.25 against the US dollar in early trading on Monday, supported by positive signals from domestic equities and easing pressure on the dollar.

The rupee’s movement came amid a cautious global market environment, with investors closely tracking crude oil prices, geopolitical developments and foreign fund flows.

Domestic Equities Support Rupee

A stronger opening in the Indian stock market provided support to the domestic currency.

Positive sentiment in equities can encourage foreign investment flows, increasing demand for the rupee and helping it gain against the US dollar.

Global Factors Remain Important

Despite the early gains, currency traders continued to monitor international developments.

Movements in the US dollar, crude oil prices and global risk sentiment are likely to influence the rupee’s direction during the trading session.

Crude Oil Prices in Focus

India imports a significant portion of its crude oil requirements. Higher oil prices can increase the country’s import bill and put pressure on the rupee, while a decline in crude prices can offer some relief.

Traders are therefore keeping a close watch on global energy markets.

Foreign Fund Flows Could Influence Trading

Foreign investor activity in Indian equities and debt markets also remains an important factor for the rupee.

Sustained inflows can support the currency, while heavy outflows may put downward pressure on it.

Market Outlook

The rupee’s performance during the rest of the session will depend on developments in domestic equity markets, the movement of the US dollar overseas, crude oil prices and broader global risk sentiment.
