15 June 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau  : Director Imtiaz Ali’s period romantic drama Main Vaapas Aaunga witnessed a healthy rise in collections on its first Sunday, indicating positive word-of-mouth among audiences.

Starring Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, Vedang Raina and Naseeruddin Shah, the film has shown steady growth over the opening weekend despite facing competition from multiple releases.

Strong Growth On Day 3

According to early trade estimates, the film collected around ₹2.35–2.50 crore net on its third day, a noticeable improvement over its Day 2 earnings of ₹1.85 crore. The Sunday growth suggests that audience reception has strengthened through the weekend.

Opening Weekend Collections

The film’s India net collections are estimated at:

  • Day 1 (Friday): ₹1.15 crore
  • Day 2 (Saturday): ₹1.85 crore
  • Day 3 (Sunday): ₹2.35–2.50 crore

This takes the opening weekend total to approximately ₹5.35–5.50 crore net in India.

Positive Word-Of-Mouth Helps

Trade analysts attribute the Sunday jump to favorable audience feedback for the film’s emotional storytelling set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition. Positive word-of-mouth appears to have compensated for the film’s modest opening-day performance.

Competition At The Box Office

The film entered cinemas amid a crowded release schedule, competing with several Hindi releases. Despite the competition, it has managed to maintain growth over the weekend and outperform some rival titles.

Looking Ahead

The crucial test for Main Vaapas Aaunga will now be its Monday hold. A stable performance during the weekdays could help the film build a respectable theatrical run, especially if the positive audience response continues.
