South Korea, February 14 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): A fire broke out at a resort construction site in Busan, South Korea killing at least six people, fire officials confirmed. According to Busan’s fire agency, over 100 workers were evacuated from the site before the flames spread.
Six individuals were taken to the hospital for cardiac arrest and later pronounced dead. Seven other sustained minor injuries, the agency said.
Approximately 90 firefighters were deployed at the scene after the fire was reported at 10:20 am. Television footage showed gray-black smoke and flames rising from the site, also a helicopter joining in as firefighting efforts. The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately clear.
South Korea’s acting president, Choi Sang-mok, instructed officials to deploy “all available personnel and equipment” and assist in rescue work. The cause of fire still remains under investigation.
