Dr. Shatanu Singhal, an interventional cardiologist at Fortis Hospital, Greater Noida, told News18 that Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) is a respiratory virus that primarily affects children the most.

It may cause inflammation of the heart and, in severe cases, lead to heart failure. This virus can be particularly fatal for patients already suffering from heart diseases.
