Chandigarh, January 8, 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Hotel booking company OYO has implemented new check-in rules for its partner hotels. According to the new rules, unmarried couples will not be given rooms at OYO hotels. Only married couples will be allowed to book a room. This rule has been first implemented in Meerut, and depending on the impact and feedback, it may be extended to other cities. Under the revised policy, all couples will be asked to provide valid proof of their relationship at the time of check-in, including for online bookings.

The company stated that OYO has given its partner hotels the discretion to reject bookings from unmarried couples, aligning with local social sensitivities. OYO has instructed its partner hotels in Meerut to immediately implement this rule. The company mentioned that citizens’ groups and local residents in Meerut and some other cities had requested OYO to stop unmarried couples from checking in.
