Chandigarh, January 6, 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Pakistan’s cricket team, currently touring South Africa, suffered a loss in the first Test match of a two-match series. The South African team posted a massive 615 runs in their first innings, thanks to remarkable performances by Ryan Rickelton, who scored a double century, and captain Temba Bavuma with a century.
On the third day of the match, Pakistan was all out for just 194 runs in their first innings. Following on, Pakistan managed to reach 213 runs for 1 wicket by the end of the day. However, Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam was injured by a throw from South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder and was visibly upset.
Babar Azam played a solid knock of 81 runs in the second innings, but it was during this innings that he collided with Mulder. Despite the challenge of following on, Babar Azam and Shan Masood combined for a partnership of 205 runs, fighting back against South Africa’s bowlers.
Mulder became frustrated after failing to take a wicket and, during the 32nd over, threw the ball at Babar Azam’s feet. This led to a confrontation between Babar and Mulder, and the umpire had to intervene.
summary: Pakistan, on their tour of South Africa, lost the first Test match after South Africa’s strong performance in their first innings.
