Satisfying Protein-Rich Dessert

Leana encourages those looking to increase their protein intake to not overlook dessert. Contrary to popular belief, she asserts that you can still enjoy sweets while pursuing health and fitness goals. She suggests making desserts more nutritious by incorporating protein.

Recently, she shared a protein-rich dessert recipe using tofu that helps combat sugar cravings. She explained, “Quitting refined sugar can be challenging, but cutting back is a crucial step, especially if you struggle with cravings. One effective way to manage this is to swap refined sugar for natural alternatives. Ripe bananas are ideal; the riper they are, the sweeter they become. I also use other natural sweeteners like orange juice, zest, or apples, but bananas are my favorite.”

Leana continued, “You can also add natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup. This approach helps regulate your blood sugar levels while curbing cravings, and the complex carbohydrates from the fruit keep you feeling fuller longer. It’s about making smarter choices that align with your body without deprivation!”

Her Banana Brownie Recipe

  • Ingredients:
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 150g flour
  • 200g silken tofu
  • 100g melted dark chocolate
  • Optional: protein powder

Instructions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients.
  2. Pour the mixture into a cake pan and bake at 180° C (350° F) for 30 to 40 minutes.

Each serving contains about 120 calories and 12g of protein, depending on the brands used.

It’s a long journey since you need to build muscle first and then lose fat, but it’s definitely worth it, and the cutting phase doesn’t take long. She advised those aiming for fitness: “When you build muscle, cutting becomes much easier. You’ve already developed the discipline, and your daily calorie intake is higher during the bulking phase, so when it’s time to cut, you’re still consuming a decent amount of calories based on your fitness level. For those who don’t lift weights and struggle to lose belly fat even at a lower weight, my advice is straightforward: build muscle. Boosting your metabolism is the only solution. Dropping to dangerously low body weights won’t help; you need to build muscle. If you think it’s impossible, try going to the gym five times a week and focus on unprocessed foods, and then we can discuss it.”
