8 october 2024 : Squats are a powerful exercise for building strength and burning calories, but proper form is crucial to maximize their benefits. In a recent Instagram video, Kareena Kapoor’s nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar, emphasized that while squats may seem simple, there are many common mistakes that can reduce their effectiveness and lead to injury.
Rujuta explained that the number of calories burned and fat lost depends on exercising with the correct technique. Poor form can cause strain on muscles and joints, increasing the risk of injury. To get the best results, she highlighted the importance of mastering squats with proper form.
She introduced the three Rs to focus on for an effective squat workout: range, reps, and rest. “Range” refers to moving your joints through their full range of motion—your hips should drop below your knees, and your knees should align with your toes. She stressed that even one squat done correctly is more beneficial than 100 performed incorrectly.
Rujuta also noted that factors like how many calories you burn, how lean you become, and how much fat you lose depend on these three elements. The ideal squat routine should include 5-10 reps per set, proper rest between sets, and adequate recovery time between sessions to allow the body to burn fat effectively.
She concluded by encouraging viewers to focus on technique and form to make the most of their exercise routine, also referencing a video from fitness trainer Namrata Purohit, who demonstrated the proper way to squat.
