12 september 2024 : The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has dismantled an international drug ring with the arrest of a suspect, seizing one kilogram of heroin and ₹4 lakh in drug money.

According to Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, the arrest was made based on a tip-off. A police team set up a trap near Green Park Colony, close to the Jalandhar bus stand, and spotted a man with a bag approaching from the Cool road area. When the man saw the police, he attempted to flee, which raised suspicions.

The police stopped him for a search, during which they recovered the narcotics and cash. The arrested individual, identified as Shinda Singh alias Kala from Chak Bhangewala village in Ferozepur, has been charged under Sections 21C-61-85 of the NDPS Act at Division 6 police station in Jalandhar.

The police are now working to identify the accused’s accomplices and the intended recipients of the heroin. They are also investigating how the heroin was smuggled from Pakistan using a drone. Additionally, Singh already has a pending FIR against him in Ferozepur under the NDPS Act.
