9 september 2024 : Selvamani Selvaraj’s upcoming film Kaantha, featuring Dulquer Salmaan, Bhagyashri Borse, and Samuthirakani, was launched with a pooja ceremony in Hyderabad on Monday. Produced by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, part of Suresh Productions, and Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films, the film began shooting the same day.
About Kaantha
Set in 1950s Madras, Kaantha delves into human relationships and societal shifts during this historical period. The first look of the film will be unveiled soon, and it will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Rana Daggubati expressed excitement about the film, noting that it marks the 60th anniversary of Suresh Productions and the launch of Spirit Media. Dulquer Salmaan highlighted the film’s deep emotional layers and its potential for strong performances. Selvamani Selvaraj aims to capture the essence of the era while resonating with contemporary emotions.
The film also features producers Prashanth Potluri and Jom Varghese, with Dani Sanchez Lopez handling cinematography, Jhanu composing the music, Ramalingam overseeing art direction, Tamizh Prabha as the writer, and Lewellyn Anthony Gonsalves as the editor.
Pooja Ceremony
At the pooja ceremony, the cast and crew wore traditional ivory and gold attire. Rana Daggubati’s uncle, actor Venkatesh Daggubati, performed the inaugural clap. Attendees included Rana’s wife Miheeka Bajaj, father Suresh Babu, Kalki 2898 AD producers Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt, and Lucky Baskhar director Venky Atluri.
Upcoming projects include Rana in TJ Gnanavel’s Vettaiyan alongside Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, and Fahadh Faasil; Dulquer in Lucky Baskhar and Aakasam Lo Oka Tara; Bhagyashri in Vijay Deverakonda’s untitled film and recently seen in Mr Bachchan; and Samuthirakani in Game Changer and Ramam Raghavam.
