June 6 (Punjab Khabarnama) : The high speed storm and hurricane that blew on Wednesday late evening has exposed the officials of the Power Com department. The situation is such that dozens of electricity poles and high voltage wires installed by the Power Com department in Kanganwal area have been uprooted and fallen on the road and even the lids and iron tin sheets of water tanks kept in people’s houses have been blown away.
In the inner parts of the city, the electricity supply stopped at around 7 o’clock on Wednesday and did not return till around 10 in the morning due to which people have to face the problem of electricity along with the shortage of drinking water. Due to the power supply being off, sick patients including small children kept suffering throughout the night. In most of the areas, the situation is so hellish that people had to crave for even a drop of drinking water. In Madhopuri area, a businessman booked a room in a hotel due to power failure to prepare for his son’s interview in a private company in Noida on Friday and sent him to prepare for the interview.
Businessman Sharma said that even after 77 years of independence, we are struggling with problems like electricity and water, which is a big incompetence of the departmental officials. He said that a little storm Or when it rains, the electricity is switched off by the Powercom department officials and even after repeated calls by the consumers, their calls are not picked up. He said that due to the negligence of the officials, question marks are being raised against the working style of the government.
