Show cause notices issued to commission agents, govt employee, deputy commissioner

373,042 mt of wheat arrival recorded, 354,348 mt procured, payment worth rs. 624 crores transferred into accounts of farmers

Barnala, April 29 (Punjab khabarnama) : Acting tough on the commission agents and government employees of various procurement agencies on account of farmers in their respective areas facing problems, the Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mrs Punamdeep Kaur has ordered issuance of show cause notices.
Deputy Commissioner and team of district administration officials have been regularly visiting grain markets in the district to ensure smooth and timely procurement of the crop.
Deputy Commissioner said that so far 38 commission agents and one government employee related to procurement agencies have been issued notices.
”During numerous visits to grain markets it was observed that the commission agents were not performing their work leading to problems being faced by farmers,'” she said.

Deputy Commissioner added that 35 commission agents have been issued notices. Also another 3 commission agents have been served show cause notices for wrongly weighing wheat crop. One government employee, related to a procurement agency, has also been issued notice in this context. All the people, who have been served notices, have been asked to submit their replies within 2 to 3 days from date of issuance. If the replies are not found satisfactory, further action will be taken.

Deputy Commissioner said that in no case shall delay in procurement of the crop be tolerated. She also appealed farmers to bring properly dried yield to the markets so that they don’t have to wait for their crop being procured owing to high moisture content.
Deputy Commissioner had visited grain markets at Kotdunne, Dhanaula, Kaleke, Aspal Kalan, Aspal Khurd, Tapa, Bhadaur and other villages. Also on her directions, the district level officers are regularly visiting grain markets to ensure smooth procurement procedure. These officers are listening to the grievances of farmers and getting it resolved on the spot.

Meanwhile, she added that so far 373042 MT of wheat arrival has been recorded in the district. Of this 354348 MT has been procured and payment worth Rs 624 crores transferred into accounts of farmers. She added that 163774 MT of wheat has been lifted.
