Chandigarh March 20 (Punjab khabarnama) : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Wednesday has apprehended Inspector Sushil Kumar, Food and Civil Supplies Department Punjab, posted at Pathankot for misappropriation of Wheat stock allotted by the Government under various welfare schemes.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said during and enquiry it was found that the above mentioned accused had misappropriated Wheat stock totalling to more than 2079 Quintals, thereby causing financial loss of lakhs of rupees to the state exchequer. He further informed that the said accused has been arrested registered a FIR No. 14 under sections 13(1), 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and under section 409 of IPC against the accused at VB police station Amritsar range. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation was under progress, he said.
