Oath administered to students to ensure active participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections

Ludhiana, March 19 (Punjab khabarnama) : For encouraging the eligible students to vote during the Lok Sabha elections – 2024, the administration has been conducting awareness programs in different schools and colleges in the district at large.

The awareness programs are being conducted under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program wherein the students are being urged to exercise their ‘Right to Vote’ without any fear. 

An oath was also administered to the students to ensure active participation during the Lok Sabha -2024 elections.

On Tuesday, the awareness programs were conducted at GHG Group of College, Gondwal (Raikot); Khalsa College for Women; Government College For Girls; Guru Nanak Girls College; ATI College on Gill road; Government ITI (Gill road); Government ITI Samrala, Malwa Central College of Education for Women in Civil Lines among other educational institutes. A voter awareness program was also held in the industrial unit-SS Rai Traders in Kishangarh (Khanna).   

District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney said that regular awareness camps are being organised under SVEEP to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).

DEO Sawhney also urged the residents and students to use ‘Voter Helpline’ mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) for enrolling themselves as voters. The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters.   

Emphasising on ‘Mera Vote, Mera Adhikar’, DEO Sawhney said that youth can play an important role in democracy and they should vote wisely and without coming under anyone’s influence.

Reiterating the commitment of the administration and police to hold free, fair and transparent elections, DEO Sawhney solicited the support of resident for the same.
