Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, March 19, 2024(Punjab khabarnama) : Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer Aashika Jain on Tuesday said that cVigil app is a landmark step in conducting the ensuing Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in a free, fair and transparent manner. The app was launched by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and used first time in 2019 general elections.
District Election Officer said that this app is amongst the dedicated and novel ways to ensure the electoral participation of the tech savvy youth besides simplifying the poll related complaints and bringing its functioning in tune with the changing times by adding that cVigil provides evidence based proof of the Model Code of Conduct / Expenditure Violation, having live photo/video with auto location data.
Mrs Jain said that any citizen can lodge a complaint through App which was further investigated by Flying Squads and subsequently action would be taken by the Assistant Returning Officers. “As soon as the complaint was lodged, action had to be initiated on it and it had to be resolved within 100 minutes”, she further said.
Further, if the complainant does not want to disclose his/her identity then credentials would be kept secret.
She said that this is a historic initiative of the Election Commission of India aimed at strengthening democracy at grass root level. she directed the district officers to perform thier duty diligently to ensure that this app proves to be a boon for the voters, Deputy Commissioner asked the officers to make sure that the complaints received on the app were disposed of at the earliest to make it a huge success.
She said that a formal training for the poll staff regarding app has already been conducted. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Mrs Sonam Chaudhry has been given the responsibility of supervisory officer besides CMFO Inder Pal District Nodal Officer.
