14 March (Punjab Khabarnama): Harry Brook pulled out of participating in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League after a family tragedy.England cricketer Harry Brook has refused to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after the death of his grandmother. Brook had earlier pulled out of England’s recent India Test tour in January citing personal reasons. The 25-year-old has now revealed that the root cause of his absence during the tour was his grandmother’s illness and the limited time he had left.In an announcement made to Dhawar, Brook confirmed that he would not be joining Delhi Capitals for the IPL season; The franchise acquired his services for Rs 4 crore in December last year.“I can confirm that I have taken the very difficult decision not to play in the upcoming IPL,” he wrote in a post on his official social media profile.“I was very excited to be selected by Delhi Capitals and am looking forward to connecting with everyone.“While I don’t feel I need to share my personal reasons behind this decision, I know many will ask why. So, I want to share it.“I lost my grandmother last month – she was a rock for me and I spent a large part of my childhood in her house; My outlook on life and love for cricket was shaped by him and my late grandfather.”
