Mann-led Punjab Government has bestowed a number of funds for development in District Barnala, Minister Meet Hayer
Foundation stone of STP Handiaya worth Rs 10.81 crores laid, two sports grounds to come up at a cost of Rs 68 lakhs.
Foundation stone laid of underground pipeline project at Kothe Rajinderpura, Harigarh.
Kothe Rajinderpura road to be widened from 9 to 18 feet at a cost of 2.75 crores.
At Jodhpur, stadium worth Rs 74 lakhs, Thapar model-based pond construction to be done at Rs 65 lakhs.
Barnala, 13 March (Punjab khabarnama) : Under stewardship of Chief Minister Punjab Mr Bhagwant Singh Mann, various development projects are being run in Barnala district as per the demand of the people. Barnala was neglected for the last several decades but now there is a flurry of development works in the district.
The Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Mr Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said while talking to media after laying foundation stone of developmental worlds to be done in Jodhpur village. He said that due to the efforts of Chief Minister Mr Bhagwant Singh Mann, the tax collection has increased by 16 percent, which was only 6 percent in previous years. He said that the government is investing all this money in public welfare, with which people are being given 600 units of free electricity and other facilities.
Today he laid the foundation stone of a sports stadium at Jodhpur to be built at cost of Rs 74 lakh and a pond renovation based on the Thapar model to be constructed worth Rs 64 lakh. Giving more information, he said that stadiums are being built to boost sports in villages where good infrastructure is being created. Under this, a playground is being built in 2.5 acres at Jodhpur, which shall include 200 meters cinder track, open gym, volleyball ground, drinking water supply, toilets etc. In addition to this, a pond is being constructed on the Thapar model at cost of Rs 65 lakhs in an area of 4.5 acres, so that the villagers can get rid of the foul smell emitting pond water.
Earlier Meet Hayer laid the foundation stone of the sewage treatment plant to be constructed at cost of Rs 10.81 crores at Handiaya, which will relieve the people of Handiaya from the problem of dirty water. He said that Rs 33 lakh were given for the Guru Tegh Bahadur Stadium in Handiaya and 35 lakh rupees for the cricket stadium at Bir. He also distributed cheque’s of Rs 50,000 each to the four youth clubs.
At village Kothe Rajinderpura, he laid the foundation stone of the underground pipe line project worth Rs 70 lakh, with which more than 850 acres of village area will be irrigated. He said that on demand of the villagers, the village road will be widened from 9 to 18 feet at a cost of Rs 2.75 crores, which will solve the traffic problem of area.
At village Harigarh, he laid the foundation stone of the underground pipe line project worth Rs 58.53 lakh, with which water will be brought from the canal to the fields for irrigating 798 acres of land.
On this occasion, Chairman District Planning Board Gurdeep Singh Bath, Chairman Urban Improvement Trust Ram Tirth Manna, O. S. D. Hasanpreet Bhardwaj, Rohit Osho, Rupinder Singh Bunty, District Sports Officer Umeshwari Sharma and others were present.
